Gamecocks women's basketball will battle TCU in Fort Worth
Three-time National Champion South Carolina women's basketball will travel to Fort Worth, Texas, for the USLBM Coast to Coast Challenge featuring the Hoopfest Women's Basketball Classic at Dickies Arena. The Gamecocks will face off against TCU on Sun., Dec. 8, at 7 p.m. ET on an ESPN network. It will be the first meeting between the two programs.

2023-24 TCU Women’s Track & Field Season Recap
The TCU Women’s Horned Frogs Outdoor Track season began on March 15 with the TCU Alumni Invitational. TCU dominated the 5k, led by London Culbreath who managed a winning time 17:02.69. Behind her, three other Horned Frogs finished in second, third, and fourth. In the 1500m, Tabitha Kalunde Ngao paced the heat at 4:33.56. As for the shorter-distance events, Kelaiah Daniyan saw her first first-place career finish in the 400m. She finished with a time of 55.57. The 100m was perhaps the Horned Frogs’ best event of the day. TCU occupied all three top spots in the event. Finally, Amari Kiluvia finished second in the 100mH—running a 14.11.
A new concert series in North Texas aims to support live music and independent venues
DALLAS — A local law firm and an event production company are launching a concert series. Shane Mullen and Joe Morrison, two attorneys at Mullen & Mullen Law Firm, are leading a new project with Spune Productions called the Mullen & Mullen Music Project. Spune Productions is a family-owned production company that books concerts at select venues across North Texas. Based on their mutual love for local music, the law firm and Spune created the project to support local acts and venues strained by the pandemic.
Fort Worth lost a $300K veterans grant. Here’s how the city can replace the funds
For the first time since 2018, the city of Fort Worth did not receive a $300,000 grant from the state that annually funds one of its veterans assistance programs. The loss means that Fort Worth’s Healthy Homes for Heroes program, which provides home modifications to veterans living in Fort Worth, does not have existing funding for the upcoming year. City leaders are working on plans to fill the gap.

Near the end of Fort Worth ISD’s July 23 board meeting, board President Camille Rodriguez said she did not know the next steps for the district. The comment followed a 5-2 vote against a strategic plan that aims to bolster academic performance across Fort Worth ISD for the next five years. Trustee Quinton Phillips and Rodriguez voted to approve the plan; trustees Michael Ryan, Roxanne Martinez, Tobi Jackson, Anael Luebanos and Wallace Bridges voted against it.
