LANSING, MI — Michigan environmental regulators can now issue written emergency response orders when natural resources are being damaged. On Tuesday, July 23, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed Senate Bill 398, which expands the power of Michigan’s Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) to compel an emergency cleanup when an ecological crisis is unfolding.
