No one injured in active shooter incident at Mississippi school. Elderly man in custody

A man was taken into custody Thursday morning after what is being called an active shooter situation was reported at West Marion Primary School.

District officials reported the incident in a Facebook post .

"We will update the community with more information as it becomes available," the post said. "Again, no one was harmed and the suspect is in custody."

Marion County Sheriff's Department officials said the man, whom they say is elderly, was taken into custody without incident. The man, who has not been identified, was in possession of an airsoft pistol.

"There is no ongoing threat to the community," the sheriff's department reported on Facebook . "No injuries have been reported at this time."

It is unclear what crime or crimes the man will face charges on in the incident.

The district's school year begins Monday, so students were not on campus at the time of the incident.
