Local youth place in 4-H competition

Four youth represented Jefferson Davis County at the SE District 4-H Project Achievement Day sponsored by Mississippi State University Extension.

The event was held at the PRCC Lowery Woodall in Hattiesburg on June 11. All four placed in their respective contest and presentation categories.

They also participated in make and take creative arts.

Youth were trained in PowerPoint/computer visual presentations and consumer judging that teaches young people how to make smart money/buying decisions by extension agent Latonya Ramsey.

In an Intelligent.com December 2023 survey interview, 800 employers said more than 50% of recent college graduates struggle with eye contact and 27% used inappropriate language during job interviews.

Being a part of 4-H give these young 4-H’ers life skills that will benefit them throughout their life.

Most participation in 4-H events and programs are of no cost to the participants and families.

Participants were Mikiya Fortenberry, second place for Visual Presentation (Other); Ava Jones, second place for Visual Presentation (Ag & Natural Resources); Landis Chandler, third place for Visual Presentation (Other) and Tyree Mobley first place for Visual Presentations (Family & Consumer Sciences) and second. place for Consumer Judging
