HATTIESBURG, Miss. ( WHLT ) – With most of the Pine Belt under a heat advisory, Hattiesburg neighbors are keeping cook at Serengeti Springs at the Hattiesburg Zoo.

“You got to find a way to beat the heat, and Serengeti Springs is probably the best way to beat the heat, especially. It’s a quick drive down 49 if you live in the metro, and if you’re here in the Hub City, it’s a fantastic place to cool off,” said John and Emory Weaver, who stopped by the water park on Tuesday.

With multiple full-sized water slides, a lazy river, spray toys and a swim-up bar, there are plenty of ways to escape the heat.

‘The water’s not too hot, not too cold. It’s really a fun time to really cool down and enjoy yourself,” said Dylan Hobby, an attendee.

Officials with Serengeti Springs encourage all guests to wear sunscreen and stay hydrated while they’re at the park. Lifeguards are on standby to help in case someone experiences a heat-related illness or trouble in the water.

Tickets for Serengeti Springs are $25 during the week and $35 on the weekend.
