    Bond denied again for 16-year-old charged in shooting death of USM football player

    HATTIESBURG, Miss. ( WHLT ) – One of the suspects charged in the shooting death of a Southern Miss football player has been denied bond for a second time.

    Pine Belt News reported a judge denied bond for 16-year-old Samir Green, of Hattiesburg, on Friday, July 12. He was charged with capital murder and attempted armed carjacking.

    Lamar County man arrested after stolen guns found in home

    A total of four teenagers have been arrested in connection to the death of 21-year-old Marcus “MJ” Daniels, Jr .

    The suspects are accused of killing Daniels at Ivy Row Apartments on Tuesday, June 11. Hattiesburg police said the victim was discovered inside a vehicle at the location.

    McDaniels, who was a senior, was a cornerback on the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) football team. He was on the Ole Miss football team in 2021 and 2022. He attended high school at George County High School.
