HATTIESBURG, Miss. ( WHLT ) – In celebration of the 2024 Olympic Games, downtown Hattiesburg businesses and attractions will hold the Downtown Summer Games on Saturday, July 27.
Competitors of all ages are encouraged to join in the games, which will include a variety of family-friendly activities such as the Hobby Horse Obstacle Race, Pin the Pepperoni on the Pizza, Speed Coloring and Keg Lifting. Each of the ten businesses and attractions participating in the Downtown Summer Games represent a different country and include: Great
“We are thrilled to bring the excitement of the Summer Olympics to Hattiesburg and to be able to put our twist on the games with the Downtown Summer Games,” said Adrienne Garanich, owner of Blooms. “This special day-long event is a wonderful opportunity for Hattiesburgers and people living in our neighboring cities and communities to come to downtown Hattiesburg and see for themselves the growing commerce and the burgeoning businesses that call downtown Hattiesburg, ‘home’.”
Zebra at Hattiesburg Zoo gives birth to female foal The Downtown Summer Games will kick off at 10:00 a.m. and run at various times at each venue, with the last competition ending at 7:00 p.m. Admission to all events at competing locations is free. Competitors and spectators alike are encouraged to wear their favorite country’s colors to show their Olympic spirit.
