Southern Miss baseball center fielder Dalton McIntyre intends to sign with the Atlanta Braves and not play for the Golden Eagles in 2025, he told the Hattiesburg American.

McIntyre, a junior from Jackson, Tennessee, was picked by the Braves in the 19th round of Tuesday's MLB draft.

Since McIntyre was drafted after the 10th round, a slot value is not assigned to the pick. Instead, if his deal exceeds $150,000, any dollars over that amount will count against Atlanta's bonus pool. Exact terms of McIntyre's deal are unknown.

McIntyre is the fourth Golden Eagle revealing his intention to sign with the MLB , joining pitcher Niko Mazza shortstop signee DJ Layton and junior college transfer pitcher Lucas Elissalt.

McIntyre only played one season at Southern Miss, but his unique playing style won't be forgotten.

He joined Southern Miss after two seasons at Meridian Community College where he pitched and played in the field. McIntyre never pitched for Southern Miss because of his unique combination of speed and contact.

He possesses a choppy swing that rarely misses and resulted in numerous infield singles. He led Southern Miss in batting average (.388), hits (92), stolen bases (10) and on-base percentage (.447). McIntyre also only struck out 28 times in 237 at-bats.
