The HIA-LI and Catholic Health are aiming to boost workforce productivity at Long Island Innovation Park at Hauppauge through a new collaboration.
Here, the two organizations are incorporating recommendations from a recent Hauppauge Industrial Park Opportunity Analysis that was prepared by HIA-LI and the Suffolk County Industrial Development Agency. The study offered insights to promote business growth for the park, where 55,000 employees from 1,350 companies work, generating $13 billion in economic output annually, according to HIA-LI.
The study included recommendations that the industrial park implement amenities to establish “a more dynamic live-work environment.” The report also recommended that the park “provide features that improve health and quality of life, such as exercise stations, bike lanes and health clubs.”
“A healthy workforce is a productive workforce, and a productive workforce fortifies the Long Island economy,” Carol Allen, chairperson of the HIA-LI Board and president and CEO of People's Alliance Federal Credit Union, said in a news release about the new partnership. “By partnering with Catholic Health, the companies within the Innovation Park will increase their competitiveness through improved productivity.”
Through the partnership, Innovation Park-based employees gain access to services from the adjacent Catholic Health Ambulatory Care.
“This exciting, new partnership will help drive economic growth on Long Island by attracting more businesses to the Innovation Park,” Terri Alessi-Miceli, HIA-LI president and CEO, said in the news release. “The close proximity of a first-class, state-of-the-art health care facility will be a strong selling point for employers considering a move into the park.”
At Catholic Health’s Ambulatory Care at Commack, HIA-LI employees will have access to St. Francis Heart Center-affiliated physicians, as well as primary care, rehabilitation care and specialty care, including breast health, colorectal and general surgery, orthopedics, pain management, pediatric orthopedic surgery, pulmonology and radiology. Also at this location, HIA-LI employees will have access to comprehensive imaging services at St. Catherine Diagnostic Imaging.

The collaboration will also give Innovation Park employers new opportunities to implement healthcare initiatives in cooperation with Catholic Health’s Commack location. Catholic Health also plans to offer HIA-LI-affiliated employees on-site wellness visits, pharmacy services, telehealth visits and other services. Potential additional programming may include employee onboarding services, joint health campaigns and additional initiatives.

Because Catholic Health’s St. Catherine of Siena Hospital is near the park, the hospital can meet the medical needs of park employees in an acute-care setting if needed.
