Grinnell’s Emergency Medical Services Now In-House
For over a decade, the city of Grinnell has explored moving from a private contract for emergency services to establishing a city-run ambulance program. Now, two years ahead of schedule, Grinnell Fire Department now operates a city-run ambulance service providing advanced life support services to the surrounding area, thanks to years of planning, a strong locally-based staff, and the support of many community organizations and individuals.

West Des Moines reopened Crossroads Park on Monday after police and city staff decided to close it this weekend for a Friday night fight that involved 50 people. Police were dispatched to the park, 5205 Ashworth Road, for a large fight that was reported on Friday night, the West Des Moines Police Department said in a news release.
