Pirates of the Caribbean actor Tamayo Perry' s final post involved his love of surfing as the late actor died after a shark attack, while out on the waves, during a surfing break.

He tragically died on June 23 in Hawaii at the age of 49. A bystander found him on the shore with some of his limbs missing. The bystander called emergency services and paramedics on the scene tried to rescusitate him, but were unable to.

Tamayo was also a lifeguard and had a surfing business called Oahu Surfing Experience with wife Emilia Perry. The business offers private surfing lessons. On the business Instagram account, Tamayo shared a post on May 30 reflecting on the time that he was on the cover of a surfing magazine. The post has a photo of him on a board shredding a wave which is in between the wave. The cover said: Surfing, The Beast of Tahiti, Teahupo'o Roar Again!"

The post was captioned, "#throwbackthursday To that #time when I simultaneously landed the #cover & the inside spread of #surfing #magazine. It was captioned: "Tamayo’s #amazing, bucking foam ball ride.’ This #image of me in the belly of the #beast , was taken by #photo @friedenpete during the trials of the 2000 Billabong Pro at Teahupo’o, #tahiti."

"There was a lot of unfair #surf #politics that went down during that event & I lost out on name sake alone during what the ASP coined at the time, The #super #final," he continued. "I got the bad side of the juicing by the judges & lost to @kellyslater, #andyirons & Vetea David."

"They advanced to the main event & I was sent packing. Needless to say, I made this #miracle of a foam ball ride & was successfully & violently blown out into the safety of the channel. Ah Yes! #good times.” - #extreme #wave junky. #love the #life . #enjoy the ride. #surfer #tamayoperry . #waves are #beautiful #blue #jewels from the #sea . #surf with the best" Tamayo concluded, while tagging Oahu Surfing Experience, 3rd Stone Hawaii, Waialua Surf Shop, Bushman Surfboards and Future Fins.

The late 49-year-old died on Sunday afternoon after a fatal shark attack while he was surfing off the island of Oahu in Hawaii. He also worked as a City and County of Honolulu Ocean Safety lifeguard and began working in that department in 2016.

In a press conference on Sunday, Shayne Enright of the Honolulu Emergency Services Department confirmed that authorities responded to calls about a surfer who was attacked by a shark around Mālaekahana Beach on Oahu’s North Shore just before 1 p.m. local time. Honolulu Ocean Safety brought Perry to shore after they responded by jet ski, where he was pronounced dead.

Honolulu Ocean Safety Acting Chief Kurt Lager during the conference stated that Perry was “a lifeguard loved by all."

” He’s well known on the North Shore. He’s a professional surfer known worldwide,” Kurt added. “Tamayo’s personality was infectious and as much as people loved him, he loved everyone else more.”

The surf instructor starred in the hit 2011's Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, 2002's Blue Crush and on the TV show Hawaii Five-O.
