Former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard cautioned voters about what Vice President Kamala Harris would bring to the table in a presidential role, arguing Harris would be “incredibly dangerous” serving this position.

President Joe Biden announced his decision to end his 2024 candidacy Sunday and soon after endorsed Harris to take his place. Since then, numerous other Democratic lawmakers have given their endorsements to Harris, including former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI).

“I’m going to sound the same warning now that I have been for years, going all the way back to 2020 when both Kamala and I were running for president on the Democratic ticket,” Gabbard said. “She is unfit and unqualified to be our president and commander in chief and would be incredibly dangerous in that position. The prospect of Kamala Harris making decisions about war and peace and where to send my brothers and sisters in uniform into harm's way is not only terrifying to us, it should be terrifying to every American knowing that we would all pay the price for her dangerous actions and dangerous decisions."

Gabbard, a veteran herself, also cautioned that her description of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, “the queen of warmongers,” could also apply to Harris. Should Harris become the next president, it would further escalate wars across the globe and bring the world closer to nuclear war, according to Gabbard.

Earlier this year, Gabbard revealed in an interview that she received major pushback within the Democratic Party when she endorsed Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), then-presidential candidate, over Clinton in the 2016 Democratic presidential primary. Gabbard also suggested that it is “not a leap of imagination” to think that Clinton, not Biden, is currently leading the United States.

“The choice for us is very clear,” Gabbard said in her video. “If we cherish peace and freedom and if we love our country, we must vote against Kamala Harris in this election on November 5 and vote for Donald Trump.”

Former President Donald Trump’s campaign has largely dismissed the notion of Harris being a threat to Trump, with Republican National Committee Co-Chairwoman Lara Trump stating that the Democratic Party is in “complete disarray.” The Trump campaign has also warned that Harris would be “Joe Biden 2.0” and that “her record is even worse.”

Former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, who endorsed Trump in January, argued that the Republican Party is running against “a machine” in the 2024 election and cautioned the party not to immediately criticize Harris, as it is not guaranteed that she will be the Democratic Party’s nominee. He also stated that criticizing Harris is almost unneeded, noting her past campaign losses and how she did not make it to the 2020 Iowa caucuses.
