For the past three years Baileyton Ruritan Club members have held a donation drive twice a year, but this year the Ruritan was unable to hold these donation drives due to various health issues.

Instead Baileyton Ruritan president Sherry Perkins asked the members for a check be written in the amount of $1,500 to the Hawkins County Humane Society.

Individual donations were also given, making the total amount donated to the Hawkins County Humane Society $2,200.

These donations will help buy much needed food and supplies, and help pay veterinary bills for the animals that are housed at the Hawkins County Humane Society.

The Baileyton Ruritan would like to thank everyone for their help and support for such a worthy cause and an awesome facility.

The Hawkins County Humane Society has only two full time paid workers, director Sandy Murray Behnke and a vet tech Jackie Catterson.

All other workers are volunteers who work tirelessly 24 hours a day 7 days a week to help take care of these animals that have been neglected, abused and or abandoned.

The Hawkins County Humane Society is a facility that is a non profit animal shelter where no animal is euthanized and operates mostly on donations. This facility’s staff strives to be the best in taking care of these animals and they work diligently and tirelessly picking up abandoned animals and taking great care of these animals while in their care plus finding a “Furever Home” for each and every one of them.

If you would like to support the Hawkins County Humane Society, you can do so by calling 423-272-6538 or visiting the Hawkins County Humane Society shelter at 5180 US Hwy 11, Rogersville.

HCHS expressed its gratitude to the Baileyton Ruritan Club, including members Tina and James Kail, Barbara and Dewey Fields, Ray and Wenona Jones, Andie and Tom Belvin’s, and Wilma Guard.

The shelter issued the following statement: “We appreciate you all for all your generosity through the years. We are just so grateful for the donations today along with a monetary check for $2,200. Thank you so much from all of us here at the Hawkins County Humane Society.”
