    Photo gallery: Hawkins County well-represented at Fun Fest

    KINGSPORT — Hawkins County has been well-represented so far in Kingsport’s Fun Fest sporting events — and it’s just getting started. Each year, the Rogersville Review invites Hawkins County athletes to share their photos from Fun Fest tournaments and the Crazy 8s 8K.

    PICKLE IN THE PARK

    Church Hill’s Ben Farne and teammate Melissa Steward from Bristol, Tennessee, took second place in the advanced mixed doubles division at the Fun Fest Pickle in the Park tournament at the Riverview Pickleball Courts.

    CRAZY 8s

    A total of 1,754 runners competed in the Crazy 8s 8K on Saturday to help usher in Fun Fest 2024. The field included a host of Hawkins County runners.

    Rising Volunteer senior Roman Borghetti-Metz clocked 28:59 in the Crazy 8s 8K to finish 51st overall and fifth in the male 16-19 age division. He was 41st among 971 male runners. Kevin McCurry finished 52nd overall and sixth in the age division. Carter Manis finished 20/104 in his age division, 77/971 among males and No. 93 overall. Isaac Jennings finished 21/104 in his age division, 79/971 among males and No. 96 overall and Josh Hathaway finished 22/104 in his age division, 82/971 among males and No. 97 overall.

    Rogersville’s Jacie Begley, a 2024 Volunteer graduate, finished 24/783 female runners and third in her age division with a time of 34:21. She came in No. 146 overall. Sabella Borghetti-Metz finished 28/90 in her age division, 113/783 among females and No. 418 overall. Allyssa Gent finished 31/90 in her age division, 96/783 among females and No. 432 overall. Emily McPherson finished 35/90 in her age division, 168/783 among females and No. 637 overall.

    Other female 16-19 participants from Hawkins County included Church Hill’s Natalie Ryans, who finished 54/90 in the age group, 352/783 among females and No. 1094 overall; Terrilynn Calhoun, who finished 59/90 in her age group, 388/783 among females and No. 1129 overall; Ashlyn Ketron, who finished 82/90 in her age group, 578/783 among females and No. 1516 overall; Emily Brake, who finished 83/90 in her age group, 638/783 among females and No. 1547 overall; and Kiera Grerr, who finished 87/90 in the age group, 703/783 among females and No. 1650 overall.

    Rogersville City School’s Elin Bryan finished seventh among 66 females in the 13-15 age group with a time of 38:20. She was 63/783 among females and No. 282 overall. Rogersville Middle School’s Jessabella Allen finished 10/66 in the age group, 88/783 among females and No. 399 overall.

    Rising Cherokee freshman Brayden Brown finished 12/60 in his age group, 128/971 among males and No. 160 overall. Kaleb Turner finished 13/60 in his age group, 154/971 among males, and No. 188 overall. Adonis Kincaid finished 40/104 in his age group, 171/971 among males and No. 211 overall. Newcomer Auston Leach finished 51/104 in his age group, 304/971 among males and No. 391 overall.

    Cherokee’s Julina Allen put in a PR of 41:30 to finish 30/90 in her age group, 98/783 among females and No. 427 overall.

    RCS newcomers Olivia Sacharnoski and Maddy Tackett both ran the 3K. Sacharnoski finished 38/427 among females and 124/786 overall. Tackett finished 54/427 among females and 153/427 overall.

    Cherokee’s Isaac Bryan also ran the 3k, finishing 72/358 among males and 100/427 overall.

    Former Volunteer wrestler Evan Glass ran a 39:44 to finish No. 354 overall, 269/971 among males and 49/104 in his age division. Mom Amy Glass finished 42/92 in her age division, 430/783 among females, 113/267 among female masters and No. 1207 overall.

    Church Hill’s Elise McKinney finished in 37:40 to finish 13/80 in the female 20-24 age group, 58/783 among females and No. 256 overall.
