Coming to a close: A.G.I.R.L.S Dance Team
COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - After many years of service, the A.G.I.R.L.S Dance Team will no longer be operating in the community. Founded in 2012, A.G.I.R.L.S. was an all-girls majorette dance team that competed in local and regional competitions and held an undefeated record for months. The team has won at least 200 trophies while being featured on Lifetime’s hit show, “Bring It” winning against the renowned Dancing Dolls.
Unsettled start to workweek with several storms
COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - The best chance of rain and storms during the workweek will be early in the week. After that, rain coverage decreases and the heat/humidity builds. Morning fog and clouds on this Monday. Otherwise, partly to mostly cloudy. Several scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to pop up starting around midday and the afternoon hours. Rain coverage will be around 50-60%, but most of us will at least see a threatening sky. Highs between 88 and 91 degrees.
VA employees work to innovate patient care
Ebony Dillard knew there had to be a better way to prevent her physical therapy patients from tripping and falling as they worked toward regaining their mobility. “We use belts or a band to hold feet apart. Initially, I thought of vibrations but with neuropathy, they might not feel it. I wondered what else could I use,” said Dillard, a physical therapy assistant at Augusta’s Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center, whose idea of using magnets in a device came to fruition in a prototype in 2022. It should be on the market by year’s end.
