BROWNSVILLE, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — Elon Musk announced on X Tuesday that SpaceX will move its headquarters from California to Starbase in South Texas following a new student privacy law.

Musk announced the change in response to a post stating that Democratic Gov. Gavin Newson signed AB1955, which bans districts from requiring school staff to disclose a student’s gender identity or sexual orientation to any other person without the child’s permission.

“This is the final straw,” Musk said. “Because of this law and the many others that preceded it, attacking both families and companies, SpaceX will now move its HQ from Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, Texas.”

Musk continued, stating that he made it clear to Newsom that “laws of this nature” would force families and companies to leave the state to “protect their children.”

In addition to SpaceX’s headquarters moving, Musk said that the X headquarters will move to Austin.

“Have had enough of dodging gangs of violent drug addicts just to get in and out of the building,” Musk said.

In February, ValleyCentral reported that SpaceX was planning to build a $100 million office and industrial factory large enough to fit 15 football fields at Starbase. Along with that, state records show that SpaceX is also planning to build a $14 million recreation center and sushi restaurant.
