    Watch Out Mosquitos in Goffle Brook Park: You're in the Crosshairs

    HAWTHORNE, NJ - Be afraid, be very afraid mosquitos! The Passaic County Mosquito Control is coming for you this evening, Thursday, July 25, especially if you're buzzing around Goffle Brook Park.

    The county released its intent to spray after 8:30 p.m. this evening, up to midnight, to control the adult mosquito population.

    In Hawthorne, spray will be dropped over Goffle Park, Macfarlan Avenue open space, Wagaraw Road and Veterans Field.

    According to NJ.gov, "West Nile virus is the most commonly reported mosquito-borne disease in New Jersey, but Eastern Equine encephalitis and Jamestown Canyon virus are also of concern. For many people, these viral infections may be asymptomatic or cause a mild to moderate illness, typically with a fever, headache, and fatigue.
