County plans new road bond
Hays County is looking to improve roads, and they will need voter support to do it. Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra announced that there will be a road bond on the November election ballot at the regularly scheduled Hays County Commissioners Court meeting Tuesday. Health Department to hold annual Back-To-School Fair
The Hays County Health Department will host a Back-To-School Fair on July 20 at the health department in San Marcos, Texas. Vaccinations and free backpacks purchased with donated funds from State Rep. Erin Zwiener will be available for school-age children. The fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. All children’s back-to-school and adult immunizations will be available for those eligible under Texas Vaccines for Children (and Adult Safety Net requirements. Kristian Menchaca, a Hays County resident, during the war in Iraq occurred recently, and one man has made it his mission to keep his memory alive. Randolph Goodman, Gary Job Corps community relations coordinator, knew Menchaca well being a student at Gary Job Corps before his deployment. SWAT team apprehends suspect in Wimberley
On June 27 at approximately 3 a.m. the Hays County Special Weapons and Tactics Team conducted a warrant service at the 4000 block of Ledgerock Rd. in Wimberley. Raymond Banda, born January 8, 1972, was taken into custody without incident and is currently being held in the Hays County Jail on charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon F2, Terroristic Threat to a Family Member and Household and a Motion to Revoke Probation in Brown County.
Sheriff releases video of deadly shooting of Joshua Wright
The Hays County Sheriff’s Office released the body camera footage of Joshua Wright being shot and killed in the Ascension Seton Hays emergency room by now former Hays County Corrections Officer Isaiah Garcia. The incident occurred on December 12, 2022. “In light of the recent dismissal and conclusion of the criminal proceedings, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office is releasing the body worn camera recording of the incident,” a statement from the Sheriff’s Office said.
