Electricity is being restored following early morning storm
A strong storm moved across Evergy’s service area this morning, starting in Manhattan about 6 a.m. and moving east along I-70, entering Missouri about 8 a.m. The storm brought heavy rains and strong winds. The National Weather Service is reporting winds as high as 70 miles per hour. The storm impacted about 29,000 customers in total, with 21,000 outages at its peak. As of noon, Evergy had restored more than half the outages with about 9,000 customers still without power.

Hospital Donates to Fire Department
Employees of Memorial Health System in Abilene wore blue jeans at work for another “Jeans Day” fundraiser on Fridays throughout the month of June. According to the hospital, employees make a donation of at least $5 and are allowed to wear blue jeans at work. A total donation of $750 was donated to the Herington Fire Department for CPR training.

Great Bend Administrator apologizes for short stint in position
Last week, Great Bend City Administrator Brandon Anderson submitted his resignation, giving the city a 30-day notice. Hired last summer, Anderson’s stay with the city was just over a year.
