    Teenager shot in Hayward last week taken off life support

    ( KRON ) — An 18-year-old victim in a shooting in Hayward last week was taken off life support and pronounced deceased on Wednesday, the Hayward Police Department announced. The 18-year-old was one of two teens shot on Thursday, June 27.

    Officers responded to the shooting near Mission Boulevard and Industrial Parkway at around 11:11 p.m. and located the victims moments later near the 100 block of West Tennyson Road. The victims, police said, had fled the shooting scene and called 911.

    The first victim a 17-year-old from Pleasanton, was treated for gunshot wounds and released. The second victim, an 18-year-old, also from Pleasanton, sustained critical injuries from gunshot wounds.

    He was taken to the hospital and put on life support. He remained on life support until July 3. He was pronounced deceased. The incident, police said, is being investigated as a homicide.

    No suspects are in custody at this time, police said. Evidence suggests the shooting was not a random act of violence, according to police. Investigators are also examining if the shooting was related to another that took place on June 26.

    Police describe the investigation as ongoing.
