Canes boys golfers finish season at sectional

The Hayward Hurricanes boys golf team placed seventh in the WIAA Division Two sectional meet at Turtleback in Rice Lake Tuesday May 28.

The top two teams at the sectional who advanced to the state meet were Lakeland Union with a score of 316, and Amery with 322. Prescott finished one stroke back at 323, followed by Bloomer 332, Baldwin-Woodville 333, Rice Lake 333, Northland Pines 335, Hayward 347, Osceola 350, Altoona 359, Elk Mound-Colfax 363 and West Salem 374.

Prescott’s Tyler Reiter was the sectional medalist with 1-over-par 72. Also advancing to state as individuals were Chase Van Ranst of Baldwin-Woodville with a 73 and Ben Vande Vert of Rice Lake with a 73.

Sophomore Liam Aldoff paced the Hurricanes with an 81, placing 14th. Sophomore Keegan Walsh shot an 86, senior Guy Swenson and junior Carter Roach each shot 90 and sophomore Gavin Hand carded 94.
