Hayward High School Advanced Art students created a beautiful interactive outdoor mural this year on the grounds of the Sherman and Ruth Weiss Community Library in Hayward.

Art Instructor Kelly Egger thanked Bob Miller and Arclin for their donation of $2,300 to pay for supplies and make this project possible. She also thanked Library Director Molly Lank-Jones for creating the opportunity to allow the artwork to be installed.

“I had help from people all over the community to make this happen, but couldn’t have done it without my students,” said Egger. “Students were told to work together in larger groups to complete a scene, but broke up into smaller ones to create each panel.

“This was a big team effort ,with multiple classes working on the mural. Some students helped a little where they could, and others painted large portions of the image. The three scenes took into consideration how they would be viewed from the Library’s walking trail, inside the building, and from the road.

“The scenes consist of local plants and animals native to Wisconsin and are beautifully done. They are bright and bold and fun to look at. Take a walk on the library walking trail, open any time rain or shine!” Egger added.
