Ready for classic rock, country gold?
Haywood County rock/country act Outlaw Whiskey will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at Bryson City Brewing in Bryson City. Formed in Haywood County seven years ago, Outlaw Whiskey has emerged as a popular band in Western North Carolina and greater Southern Appalachia. A blend of original country and rock songwriting amid a bevy of cover tunes from the likes of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash and other marquee acts, the essence of the group is musicianship and fellowship.
‘Brisket, Bourbon & Beer’
The “Brisket, Bourbon & Beer” fundraiser for REACH of Haywood County will take place from 5:30-9 p.m. Thursday, June 20, at the Shelton House in Waynesville. Gather on the lawn of the Shelton House in Waynesville to enjoy a savory brisket dinner and your choice of a mint julep cocktail, beer or wine. VIP guests will be treated to a private, high-end bourbon tasting and will receive a keepsake rocks glass.
Volunteers needed to box 15,000 pounds of food for needy
Haywood Christian Ministry is receiving a shipment of 15,000 pounds of food on Saturday, June 22, and needs volunteers to help pack it in boxes. It is the largest shipment Haywood Christian Ministries has ever received from the federal Emergency Food Assistance Program. It will be packed into 600 boxes to feed the needy in Haywood County.
'Chicken Soup' contributor to sign books in Haywood
Local author William Clark will be signing copies of his latest release in Maggie Valley this weekend. Clark, a contributing writer to “Chicken Soup for the Soul,” will be signing copies of his new release, “The American Peacemaker — Healing the Great Divide” at Momma T’s Mountain Made in Maggie Valley from noon to 2 p.m. on both Friday, June 21, and Saturday, June 22.
