Clark County Sheriff's Office detectives say that Logan Melchert is responsible for setting a Kia Soul on fire - and burning the human body that was inside the car.The Kia Soul is owned by the estate of Logan’s deceased father, according to police. They went to his last known residence around Northwest Sluman Road and Overlook Drive in Hazel Dell. There, they found a vehicle they said appeared to be recently burned, and inside they said they found human remains."[The car] looked like it had just recently [burned], like it was still kind of smoldering; it had been fairly recent. It appears it may have been from the day prior, maybe sometime this weekend. They're still not sure, they're still looking into the actual timeline for that," said Sgt. Chris Skidmore, spokesperson for the sheriff's office. "There was that and some additional factors that, in this point of the investigation we can't really get into, that raised the deputies' concern enough that they reached out to our major crime's unit."Melchert was arrested on the same day for an unrelated warrant. The events leading up to the arson are still under investigation, says the CCSO, including the "circumstances regarding the death of the person located in the burnt vehicle."Positive identification of the human remains is still being conducted by the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office.To protect the integrity of the active investigation, additional details are not currently available for release to the public.</div></body>
