Dr. Devon Hoover murder suspect to undergo competency hearing
DETROIT (FOX 2) - The man accused of killing well-known Detroit neurosurgeon Devon Hoover was referred for a competency hearing Thursday. Desmond Burks, 34, is charged with first-degree premeditated murder, felony murder, larceny over $20,000, felon in possession of a firearm, and three counts of felony firearm for the April 2023 murder of Hoover at his Boston Edison home.

New Detroit signs coming to a neighborhood near you
New welcome signs are coming to 60 neighborhoods across Detroit through a federally funded program. Block club organizations registered with the Department of Neighborhoods applied last fall to receive customizable signs that are unique to each community. City officials said the signs will be installed starting in September. The project aims to highlight Detroit’s neighborhoods in collaboration with community organizations that make the city unique.

This unique exhibition details the 100-year history of the Kresge Foundation in two separate galleries of the Detroit Historical Museum. On the lower level of the museum, the Kresge & Wilson store in the iconic Streets of Old Detroit will feature new interpretive elements, giving visitors a preview of the main exhibition, housed in Wrigley Hall. The main exhibit will feature a company and foundation timeline, a Kresge store lunch counter complete with historic menus, and a spotlight on Foundation programs.
