    Man assaults amputee with victim’s crutches: Police

    HAZELWOOD, Mo. – A St. Louis County Circuit Court judge signed an arrest warrant for a Hazelwood, Missouri, man for allegedly beating an amputee with the victim’s own crutches.

    Toney C. Lewis of Hazelwood is charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action for the attack, which occurred on July 15. A more specific address was not provided.

    According to the Hazelwood Police Department’s probable cause statement, Lewis struck the amputee with a metal object and the victim’s crutches.

    Lewis allegedly told police that he felt threatened by the amputee.

    Upon arrest, Lewis will be held on a $75,000 cash-only bond.
