    Man indicted by federal jury for firearm offense

    SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The United States Attorney’s Office announced a man was indicted by a federal jury for a firearm offense.

    The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania charged Renan Tineo, 22, of Hazleton, New Jersey with possessing a firearm while having a domestic violence protective order against him.

    According to United States Attorney Gerard M. Karam, the indictment further alleges that the firearm possessed by Tineo was a .38 caliber Charter Arms revolver that also had an obliterated serial number.

    This investigation was constructed by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), the Wilkes-Barre Police Department, and the Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office.

    Assistant United States Attorney James M. Buchanan is prosecuting the case.
