Recent grads Hayden ‘24 and Haylee ‘24 Calaman have a lot in common. Career paths aren’t one of them. Sisters Hayden and Haylee Calaman first found out about Wilkes University as successful softball student-athletes while at Elizabethtown Area High School, south of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. “We met coach Jackie (Wilkes Head Softball Coach Jackie Klahold MS ‘15) through tournaments, and so we looked into Wilkes,” said Hayden.

Renovo, Pa. — A 21-year-old Montandon man is facing felony and misdemeanor charges stemming from what police describe as "an ongoing incident" from June 17 to July 4. Nathaniel S. Strouse was driving at a high rate of speed up and down Fifth Street in Renovo on June 17. An Italian restaurant in Hanover Township, Northampton County, sustained significant damage due to a fire Sunday morning, according to the township fire chief. Firefighters responded at 9 a.m. Sunday to the fire at Nonna Sulina’s Sicilian Kitchen and Grill at 5000 Bath Pike, according to Hanover Township, Northampton County, Fire Chief Scott Van Why.

Suspect rips business off for $13,000
Selinsgrove, Pa. — An unknown suspect used a credit card with insufficient funds to pay for $13,000 of building products, police say. Around June 26, the suspect called Kohl Building Products in Penn Township and ordered building products including roof shingles, according to Trp. Derek Gill of state police at Selinsgrove. The sales representative took the order over the phone along with a credit card number provided by the suspect. The suspect then promptly went to the business to pick up the products. A short time later, representatives at the business found that the credit card transaction was denied for insufficient funds. Anyone with information may contact PSP Selinsgrove at 570-374-8145.

Though the Wyoming Area football program’s state championship in 2019 came more than a decade after Paul Marranca passed the head coach headset to Randy Spencer, the title is part of Marranca’s legacy. Here’s another part: Thursday the Wyoming Area Football Alumni Association dedicated the school’s weight room as the Paul Marranca Performance Center. And another: though separated by time, Marranca stepped down as head coach in 2007, and distance, he lives in Arizona, the Warrior coaching staff and the football alumni still call him “Coach.”
