As HBCU Homecoming season approaches, excitement is building across historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs). These annual events are more than just gatherings—they are cultural celebrations that allow alumni and students to reconnect, relive memories, and celebrate their school spirit. BLK, the leading dating and social app for Black singles , recently surveyed its users to explore the most intriguing trends surrounding HBCU Homecoming. From casual connections to the most lit alumni events, the results of BLK’s Homecoming Hookup Report provide fresh insights into how Black singles experience this highly anticipated tradition.

Here is what the company found:

    Enjoying the Vibes Over Hookups

While HBCU Homecoming is known for its energy, parties, and reunions, most attendees are focused on soaking in the atmosphere rather than pursuing hookups. According to BLK’s report, 41% of respondents admitted to having a hookup during a past HBCU Homecoming, but for the majority, the event is more about enjoying the culture and connecting with friends.

Keeping It Private: Hookups Happen Behind Closed Doors

For those who do seek a romantic connection during homecoming, privacy is key. The survey found that 63% of respondents prefer private settings—like hotel rooms or afterparties—if they engage in hookups. While the excitement of Homecoming provides the perfect backdrop for meeting new people, most prefer to keep intimate moments behind closed doors.

    Reuniting with Exes: Drama-Free Zone

Running into an ex during a Homecoming can be inevitable, but drama isn’t on the agenda for most attendees. A whopping 77% of respondents said they’d rather keep it cool and focus on enjoying the festivities rather than reopening old wounds. This reflects the overall vibe of HBCU Homecoming—where fun and celebration take center stage, and personal drama is left behind.

    The Top-Ranked HBCU Homecoming Experiences

One of the highlights of BLK’s survey was discovering which schools rank highest when it comes to Homecoming celebrations. According to BLK users, here are the top-ranked HBCUs for Homecoming experiences:

    • Best Overall HBCU Homecoming: North Carolina A&T State University
    • Best Homecoming with the Best-Looking Females: Howard University
    • Best Homecoming with the Best-Looking Guys: Morehouse College and Grambling State University (tie)
    • HBCU with the Most Lit Alumni: North Carolina A&T State University
    • HBCU Homecoming with the Wildest Nights: Florida A&M University (FAMU)
    • Best HBCU Homecoming for Singles Looking to Hook Up: North Carolina A&T and FAMU (tie)

These rankings showcase the unique personalities and experiences that different HBCUs offer during their Homecoming festivities.

HBCU Homecoming: More Than Just Hookups

At the core of HBCU Homecoming is more than just romantic connections—it’s about celebrating school pride, culture, and community. Whether you’re reconnecting with old friends or making new memories, BLK’s Homecoming Hookup Report shows that these events are filled with excitement, laughter, and lasting experiences.
