In mid-February, Griner was arrested in a Moscow airport trying to leave the country with cannabis cartridges for vaping. She was in Russia playing basketball for a local team there. The cannabis business publication Green Market Report recently reported that Boris Jordan, Chairman of Curaleaf, a cannabis corporation that is a Multi-State Operator (MSO), endorsed a limited market. Curaleaf has several cannabis dispensaries in NJ. They have since clarified some of their position to the contrary after the outrage. Illegal Stock Scheme Tied to Cannabis Products Warned To Stop
New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin ordered an internet company to stop offering fraudulent investments related to cannabis products. Due to the Cease and Desist Order he issued, the NJ Bureau of Securities directed the online company Buy Cannabis Stocks Investments Inc. (BCSI) to stop offering bogus investment stock packages related to pharmaceutical, medical cannabis, legal hemp, CBD oil, and legal cannabis products that promised investors monthly Returns on Investment (ROI) ranging from 7.5% to 55%. NJ Assembly Committee Passes Banking Bill for Cannabis Companies
The New Jersey Assembly Finance Committee passed a bill to make it easier for cannabis companies to do business with banks. The bill is A4263 “Protects financial institutions and insurers doing business with the cannabis industry from being penalized by State regulators.” If it passes, the State of New Jersey cannot “prohibit, penalize, or otherwise discourage a financial institution or insurer from providing financial or insurance services to a legitimate cannabis-related business or the business associates of a legitimate cannabis-related business.” It was noted Assemblyman Joe Danielson (D-Somerset and Middlesex) had sponsored a similar bill on insurance.
