Maker of “cult” wines part of dinner at The Redwood

Winemaker dinners are a dime a dozen around these parts, but when Eric Sussman of Radio-Coteau teams up with Geneva Melby and Ryan Miller of The Redwood, it’s one to notice. The “cult” Sebastopol winery is pulling corks on some rarities like a 2018 estate Pinot Noir and a Syrah aged for 10 years at a 6-course dinner beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday. The menu includes a fresh summer melon salad, steelhead crudo and coulotte steak with peppers, olives and eggplant to pair with that Syrah. Tickets are $145 per person — order before they’re gone at bit.ly/4cQs0yM. 234 S. Main St.

Landmark celebration is a triple treat

Guy Fieri has his triple Ds and Gs (Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, and Guy’s Grocery Games), but Landmark Vineyards has claimed the triple Ps for this weekend, at least. The winery will host its Pig, Pizza and Pinot event from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday at the estate. Guests can sip exclusive Landmark wines while indulging in handmade wood-fired pizzas and whole roasted pig. Tickets are $125 per person and are available at bit.ly/4cUSE9R. 101 Adobe Canyon Road.

    Iron Horse revives Oyster Sundays

Oyster Sundays were a long-standing tradition at Iron Horse Vineyards in the “before times” (pre-COVID). Now they’re back from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Sunday. A $35 ticket gets you fresh and barbecue Hog Island Oysters plucked straight from Tomales Bay, paired with sparkling wine and the winery’s stellar views. For those who’d like to earn their oyster indulgence, Iron Horse is hosting a beach cleanup for the Surfrider Foundation from 9:30 a.m.- 1 p.m. Aug. 11 at Doran Beach. After making that corner of the world a better place, guests will hit the road to Nick’s Cove for an oyster after party with a raw bar and plenty of bubbly. Tickets for that event are $75 per person. Book your spot for one or both events at bit.ly/4615jpB. 9786 Ross Station Road.

Lobster boil at historic Russian River Valley winery

There’s probably no community that loves and respects firefighters as much as Sonoma County does, and here’s an extra reason to love them: They’re the ones cooking and serving lobsters at historic Foppiano Vineyards annual lobster boil, 5-8 p.m. July 27. The menu includes not only lobster, but prawns, hot links, corn, potatoes, artichokes and “loads of wine,” according to the winery’s website. Foppiano is known for its Petite Sirah and Pinot Noir, but the estate grown Chardonnay and Vermentino sound like they’ll wash the lobster down quite nicely. Tickets are $170 plus taxes and fees and available at bit.ly/3W1a65B. 12707 Old Redwood Highway.

    SANTA ROSA

Food trucks, caviar bar — just another day in Paradise

The Byck family has spent 30 years in paradise and they’re inviting everyone to celebrate with them at Paradise Ridge Winery’s 30th anniversary party, noon-4 p.m. July 28. The winery, which has some of the best views in Santa Rosa and is home to the iconic “Love” statue, is pulling out all the stops with food trucks, live music and samples from a caviar bar. In addition to drinking wine, which will be available for purchase by the glass, guests can even have their portrait painted with it, too. Tickets are $25 and include a keepsake wine glass. Purchase at bit.ly/4eWmUmE. 4545 Thomas Lake Harris Drive.

Discover winery’s checkered past during history hike and lunch

There’s a lot of history nestled in the foothills above downtown Sonoma at Bartholomew Estate Winery. The winery, which is part of the 375-acre Bartholomew Park, is hosting a hike and lunch, which will introduce visitors to some of the property’s fascinating history that includes prostitutes, phylloxera, and financial turmoil. The guided hike through the estate’s flatlands starts at 10:30 a.m. and concludes at 1 p.m. July 28 after a post-hike lunch and wine tasting. Tickets are $125 per person and available at bit.ly/4bC32T2. 1000 Vineyard Lane.
