Ancient Cherokee game returns for holiday
TAHLEQUAH – The ancient game of Cherokee marbles will carry on at this year’s Cherokee National Holiday as teams battle it out at the Cherokee Heritage Center. The game – which some Cherokee historians claim has been around since 800 A.D. – is played using marbles the size of billiard balls on a 100-foot field with five holes. The holiday marbles tournament is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Aug. 31.

NORMAN — Gavin Sawchuk has enjoyed a new experience this month: a fall camp finally healthy and without limitations. The redshirt sophomore running back is entering his third year at Oklahoma, but this preseason marks his first fully healthy stretch of preseason practices after being hampered by hamstring issues during this part of the calendar the last two seasons. To say it has been refreshing for the 5-foot-11, 200-pound running back would be an understatement.

Three exhumed 1921 Tulsa massacre victims found to have gunshot wounds
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Three of the 11 victims of the 1921 race massacre in Tulsa, Oklahoma, who were exhumed on Friday, were found with gunshot wounds, the city said. Two of those three victims were found to have wounds from two different firearms and one had "evidence of possible burns," the city said in an update of its investigation into the massacre.
