DART board divided over who they represent in funding cut talks
The Dallas Area Rapid Transit board of directors is divided over its response to growing calls from some of its member cities to cut the agency's funding. Seventy-five percent of DART's funding comes from its 13 member cities, which each contribute one cent per sales tax dollar. In recent months, some cities — including Irving, Plano and Rowlett — have passed resolutions in support of reducing that penny by 25%.
Warby Parker store opening in Preston Park Colonnade
Warby Parker is opening a new store in the Preston Park Colonnade this Saturday, July 20. This is their second store in Plano, after a location opened in 2017 at Legacy West. The location will carry an assortment of optical and sun options. This includes Warby Parker’s new Summer 2024 collection and their daily contact lenses brand, Scout by Warby Parker. On top of just purchases, the new location will offer eye exams from a third party.
University of Dallas to Host Data Center for City of Irving
(TNS) — The Irving City Council approved plans to rezone dozens of acres owned by the University of Dallas to data center uses. The Catholic liberal arts university has teamed up with Dallas commercial real estate developer KDC for a data center campus to capture big data and artificial intelligence demands across the region.
'Aim Better': Dallas Police Officer on Administrative Leave for Comment Following Trump Assassination Attempt
Following the assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump (R), the Dallas Police Department received a complaint after one of its officers allegedly left a comment saying, “Aim better,” referring to the shots fired. The officer in question, Sergeant Arturo Martinez was placed on administrative leave by DPD.
