    It is the first week of August and Michigan is hopping with things to do for you and your family. There are county fairs, ethnic festivals, and drive-in events to see the USAF Thunderbirds. Tons of events are happening besides the below list, and I hope you enjoy the most out of summer because it is going by fast. Here are the upcoming festivals and fairs around Michigan this first weekend of August.

    Motor City Car Crawl 8/5-8/8 - Detroit

    Detroit has always been a car city, and now we have an all-new event, the Motor City Car Crawl, to celebrate that. This outdoor charity event focuses on bringing the community together to showcase a remarkable automotive experience that will showcase new vehicles from metro Detroit area dealers throughout six downtown parks, including Beacon Park, Cadillac Square, Campus Martius, Capitol Park, Grand Circus Park, and Spirit Plaza. And you can enjoy Downtown Detroit establishments, local food trucks, beverage stations, and family entertainment all over the city. The Motor City Car Crawl will be in the Downtown Detroit Parks at 800 Woodward Avenue. The Motor City Car Crawl hours are Friday, August 6, noon-10 p.m. / Saturday, August 7, noon-10 p.m. / Sunday, August 8, noon-5 p.m.

    The 46th Annual Boyne Falls Polish Festival 8/5-8/8 - Boyne Falls

    The 46th annual Polish festival is held in downtown Boyne Falls this weekend. If you enjoy Polish festivals, you’ll love this one as it has Bingo, Polka dancing, a Classic Car Show, a Youth Bike Parade, a Grand Royale Parade, Horseshoe Tournament, Family Movie, Bake Sale, a 4-Wheel Drive Mud Run, and I bet all the Polish food you can eat. This Polish festival is in Downtown Boyne Falls at the Corner Of Mill & Railroad Street.

    The Port Sanilac Blues Festival 8/6-8/7

    Come out and celebrate blues music at the Port Sanilac Blues Festival. Listen to the Luke Repass Band, the Sax Maniacs, Thornetta Davis, David Gerald Band, and so many more. The blues Festival is going to be at Harbor Park at 7376 Main Street in Port Sanilac.

    Mission Point Lighthouse stands at the north end of a picturesque drive along M-37 through cherry orchards and vineyards. This is where you can enjoy the 5th Michigan Lighthouse Festival. There will be vendors and refreshments. It is also National Lighthouse Day.

    Did you know that Michigan has more lighthouses than any other state (129)? And this unique festival travels the state of Michigan each year to celebrate and focus its beam on a featured lighthouse! This year’s celebrated lighthouse is Mission Point Lighthouse at 20500 Center Road in Traverse City.

    Barefoot and Free Yoga Festival 8/6-8/8 - Commerce Twp

    Are you looking for some zen moments? Something peaceful to destress from your hectic week? How about enjoying a diverse range of classes, workshops, lectures, discussions related to yoga? This Yoga festival has over 40 presenters exuding passion and experience. You will be able to learn all styles of yoga and deep dive into mystical experiences, meditations, sound healing, music, and dancing. All to help you self-care and destress your life. This event is free and open to all levels of experience. The festival can be found at Proud Lake Recreation Area at 3500 Wixom Road in Commerce Township.

    Grand Rapids Hispanic Festival 2021 8/6-8/8

    The Hispanic Center of Western Michigan is hosting the historic Hispanic Festival in Grand Rapids this weekend. This event is totally free, family-friendly, and open to the public. Come and celebrate & support the various rich Hispanic cultures that are present in West Michigan. You will be able to enjoy live entertainment, kid activities, dancing, food, beverages, their famous Mercadito, and so much more! The Grand Rapids Hispanic Festival is at the Calder Plaza at

    Saginaw Bay Waterfowl Festival 8/7-8/8 - Bay City

    If you like ducks and geese, then you have to come to the 26th annual Saginaw Bay Waterfowl Festival in Bay City this weekend. Some of the bird events that are happening at this festival include the Michigan State Duck and Goose Calling competition, Michigan Duck Stamp Competition, Duck Hunter and Outdoor Recreation Expo, adult duck and goose calling clinics, along with local food trucks. The hours this weekend are Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m to 4 p.m. in Bay City State Park at 3582 State Park Drive.

    Thunder Over Michigan Air Show 8/7-8/8 - Belleville

    Thunder over Michigan Air Show will feature the USAF Thunderbirds and the USAF F-35 Demo Team doing amazing aerial feats at Willow Run Airport. In addition, you will be able to see the World’s Largest Gathering of Mitchell B-25 Bombers. This is a drive-in event, so make sure you pack chairs to tailgate and watch these aircraft do their thing. You will be able to walk onto aircraft on the grounds and see what it looks like from the inside. With your timed ticket for the morning or afternoon show, you’ll also get access to the Yankee Air Museum, free of charge, during these two days. Children 15 and under are free. Willow Run Airport is at 47884 D Street in Belleville.

    Art, Beer & Wine Festival 8/7 - Jackson

    This weekend, stop at the 16th Annual Art, Beer & Wine Festival if you are in Jackson. There will be wineries, breweries, cideries, distilleries, artists, and food vendors for you to enjoy. You will also be able to listen to great live music on the grounds of the Ella Sharp Museum and within the courtyard of the museum’s historic Hillside Farm Lane. All proceeds from the festival (including bottle wine and beer sales) benefit Museum programming. Ella Sharp Museum is at 3225 Fourth Street in Jackson.

    Another county fair for you and your family to road trip to this weekend is the Western Michigan Fair. There will be Animal shows, Midway rides, motorcycle races, monster trucks, tractor pulls, and a demolition derby at the Mason County Fairgrounds at 5302 W. US-10 in Ludington.
