Upcoming Fairs and Festivals in Michigan for Sept. 9 to Sept. 15

Depending on where you believe the fall season starts on the calendar, after Labor Day or on the Fall Equinox, Sept. 22, there are still fairs and festivals happening on the weekends. All over Michigan, whether you are camping, looking for delicious food, classic cars, or great food, there is something for the entire family to enjoy. Here are some of the upcoming fairs and festivals this weekend in Michigan.

Frankenmuth Funtown Chowdown Food Truck Festival 9/9

Time for another Funtown Chowdown this Thursday, Sept. 9. Frankenmuth’s Annual Food Truck Festival is at Frankenmuth River Place Shops and takes place in the parking lot east of the shopping complex. Each festival will features around 20 trucks from across Michigan with a variety of cuisine and desserts, live music, craft beer and non-alcoholic beverage sales, a designated accessible parking area, and additional activities for families. Come out hungry, bring cash, and get ready for some fun at Frankenmuth River Place Shops at 925 South Main Street.

Harvest Festival 9/10-9/12 - Baraga

If you are camping this weekend, pick a spot at Baraga State Park. Campers are invited to join in on the park’s annual Harvest Festival. Go all out with your camping site decorations, so you and every other camper can enjoy the sights as they stroll by. This event is open to registered campers and their visitors only. Be sure to make your reservations early—time for some festive fall fun at the Baraga State Park at 1300 US-41 South.

Yep, another Harvest Festival! This time it is at Bewabic State Park in Crystal Falls. Campers are invited to join in on the park’s annual Harvest Festival. Go all out with your camping site decorations, so you and every other camper can enjoy the sights as they stroll by. This event is open to registered campers and their visitors only. Be sure to make your reservations early so that we can welcome you to some festive fall fun at Bewabic State Park at 720 Idlewild Road.

Apple & BBQ Festival 9/10-9/11 - Hart

What could go better with Apples than BBQ! The Apple & BBQ Festival is returning this year to the Silver Lake Sand Dunes area. This fun two-day festival will take place outdoors this weekend with a culmination of live entertainment, events, and delicious food for the whole family. There will be an Amateur BBQ Cook-Off Competition, Craft Show, Classic Auto & ORV Show, Kid's Activities, Beer Tent, and a 5K Apple A Day Run/Walk. Come out to this tempting festival at Golden Township Park on Silver Lake Road.

Brighton's Smokin Jazz and Barbecue Blue Festival 9/10-9/11

The 15th Annual Brighton’s Smokin’ Jazz & Barbecue Blues Festival is this weekend in Downtown Brighton. The festival hours are Friday, 5 to 11 p.m. and Saturday noon to 11 p.m. Award-winning barbecue will once again be smokin’ up Main Street from Grand River to First Street; serving up ribs, pulled pork, beef brisket, pork tenderloin, sweet treats, specialty mac n’ cheese and much more. There will be some fantastic vendors, and you can vote for your favorite to be the People’s Choice Best Barbecue! And while you are munchkin’ on some good BBQ, there will be Jazz and blues in the beer tent located on Mill Pond Lane (in the municipal parking lot behind Great Harvest Bread Company) both Friday and Saturday nights. All of this is happening in downtown Brighton on Mainstreet at 428 West Main Street.

Each year, hundreds of vehicles from the 1890s through 1932 arrive from across the country to be perfectly set in the place where American history is brought to life. The Old Car Festival in Greenfield Village is a raucous ride that epitomizes the earnest optimism of the American Dream from the turn of the century to the Great Depression. You can wander through the village to meet the owners who’ve passionately preserved these treasured automobiles. Watch drivers engage in games of skill, listen to the distinctive sounds of century-old vehicles or sit back and enjoy expert insights while drivers motor through the Pass-in-Review parade. It’s an automobile lover’s dream, as electric-, steam- and gas-powered engines are constantly in motion around you. Old Car Festival brings ragtime America and the Jazz Age to life with two days of historically inspired street food, music, dancing, and activities in the center of Greenfield Village. Don’t forget to stay late Saturday evening for the Gaslight Parade of Cars, dancing with the River Raisin Ragtime Revue, a Dixieland-style parade, and the fireworks finale. Tickets start at $40.50 for adults, plus there is a parking fee of $6 per vehicle and a service fee of $3 per transaction. Greenfield Village is at 20900 Oakwood Boulevard.

During this weekend, September 10-12, over 200 Fine Artisans, Make & Take Art activities, live performances, and tons of food scattered around Rochester Municipal Park. Michigan Renaissance Festival 9/11-9/12 - Holly

This weekend experience the Wonders of the World at the Michigan Renaissance Festival. You will be able to wander the world market and entertainment from around the globe. Also, all individuals and dance troupes are invited to the Michigan State Belly Dance Championship. If you don’t feel like competing, you can take a dance lesson or show off your steampunk attire. This will be quite the eclectic weekend on the Michigan Renaissance Festival Grounds at 12600 Dixie Highway.
