There are ghost tours, pumpkin train rides, pet-friendly parties, and plenty of other spooktacular events happening around Michigan to celebrate fall and Halloween. Here are the upcoming festivals and events in Michigan for this weekend.
Come out to Howell and experience the past and the present; come alive on the Howell Historical Ghost Tour! You will hear stories of ghostly apparitions, shadow figures, and orbs, as experienced by local business owners, residents, and paranormal investigators. Advance purchase is required to secure your tour reservation. Please contact Dianna O’Grady using the website with the date, time, and number in your party, and a PayPal invoice will be sent to you within 24 hours.No reservations will be held without payment. All Tours meet and depart at 8:30 p.m. outside of Howell’s Mainstreet Winery 201 W. Grand River Howell, MI 48843. This is an outdoor walking tour. Tour will depart on time and in all weather conditions.
Lake Arvesta Fall Festival 10/15-10/16 - South Haven
For anyone around South Haven, there are two days packed with family fun in the great outdoors! You will be able to enjoy live music, cornhole tournaments, disc golf, a Jumbo Slide, Inflatable Bounce Houses, Hayrides, Kids' Halloween Costume Contest, Bonfires, Smores Station, Food Trucks, and even a Pickleball Tournament. The festival is at the Lake Arvesta Sports Complex on 06464 Arvesta Drive.
Harvest Festival 10/15-10/17 - Holly
If you are still looking for an outdoor camping adventure, head out to the Holly Recreation Area for the annual Harvest Festival. Celebrate this spooky fall season by decorating your site to the nines. This event is open to registered campers and their visitors only. Be sure to make your reservations early. The Holly Recreation Area is at 8100 Grange Hall Road.
Pumpkins in the Park 10/16 - Plainwell
More Halloween fun can be had at the Pumpkins in the Park event in Hicks Park at 101 Allegan Street. Family fun activities include the Children's Halloween Carnival, which is free for all ages. Make sure to dress in costume. At the Halloween Carnival, you’ll enjoy carnival-type games, hay wagon rides, contests of all sorts from costume contests to pumpkin chucking contests, Trick or treating downtown, and food trucks. FYI...there is a small fee for games and the wagon rides.
The Eastown Howl-Oween Pawty is a free event celebrating our favorite furry neighbors, their owners, and all dog-loving friends. This ~pawty~ will include a Beer Tent, pet costume contest, and a dog photo booth for your family portrait! Contestants of the costume contest could win amazing gift baskets/prizes in the following categories - Funniest, Scariest, Best Group (multiple dogs or owner/pet costumes), and Most creative. This pet-friendly event is in Wilcox Park at 100 Youell Avenue SE in Grand Rapids.
Growl-er Brewfest is a dog-centric beer tasting and food truck rally. This event features local craft breweries, food trucks, live music, and a dog-friendly event with plans for on-site adoption and a donation drop-off area for dog beds, crates, food, treats, etc. More pet fun to be had on the dog-gone fun obstacle course, puppy pools, and photo ops for pups and their humans. All dogs attending the event must be kept on a leash at all times and be human- and dog-friendly. The party is at SELCRA Meijer Park at 100 Charles H Orndorf Drive in Brighton. Gates open at 2 p.m. on Sunday and end at 6 p.m., with free parking available at St. Patrick School. Your general admission tickets include a branded Growl-er Brewfest pint glass and 12 drink tickets for a 3oz pour each. Attendees can also purchase incredible food from our food trucks and listen to the oh-so-talented Jennifer Westwood and Dylan Dunbar while sipping craft beers, ciders, and wine.

Celebrate fall this weekend in Frankenmuth during Scarecrow Fest, with a fun family-friendly festival at Frankenmuth River Place Shops and special scarecrow displays throughout downtown Frankenmuth. This weekend is Dog Weekend which includes performances by the Rock ‘N Roll K-9 team and a pet costume contest. Other activities on hand are arts and crafts, pumpkin painting, pumpkin bowling, barrel train ride and the ever-popular pumpkin catapult, where you can launch your pumpkin high up in the air before it comes smashing down on a huge dump truck target. The Sunday of each weekend includes trick-or-treating throughout the complex, with Dog Weekend just for the pups. The Frankenmuth River Place Shops are at 925 South Main Street.
Chrysanthemums & More 10/14 - 10/31 - Grand Rapids
A perennial favorite and the largest of its kind in Michigan, the Chrysanthemums exhibition spans thousands of blossoms across 158 sprawling acres at the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park. You can peruse pathways aglow with vibrant fall plantings, paying attention to how their look and mood change as you move from the intensity of sun-filled spaces to the understated low light of autumn afternoons. Watch textures soften and shadows elongate as the light of day takes hues from warm to cool. Each display is a visual spectacle of flowers and foliage, appearing to glow from within. These colorful flowers can be found at 1000 East Beltline Avenue NE in Grand Rapids.
Ghosts of Lighthouse Point 10/14-10/16 - Marquette
Marquette Maritime Museum presents Ghosts of Lighthouse Point this weekend from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. for kid-friendly and families and 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. for Teens and Adults only. General Admission is $10 plus one canned good, and Children Admission is $5 and one canned good. The tours leave every ten minutes. Make sure to reserve a spot for this haunted lighthouse tour at the Marquette Maritime Museum on 300 N Lakeshore Blvd.
Zoo Boo - 10/15-10/17 - Royal Oak

Zoo Boo, the annual “merry-not-scary” event, returns to the Detroit Zoo for guests of all ages! Families will love the festive decorations, strolling entertainment, photo opportunities, educational activities, and so much more. The entire Zoo will be open, allowing guests to visit all their favorite animals, learn spooky animal facts and enjoy festive pumpkin displays from 2 p.m.to 6 p.m. Tickets are $13. They must be bought in advance (Children 2 & under are free). The Zoo Boo is at the Detroit Zoo at 8450 West 10 Mile Road.
Park Before Dark 2021 10/16-10/17 - Alto
A Halloween Party You Won’t Want To Miss. One of our most popular events year after year is back! Mark your calendars for October 16th & 17th for our 2 day Park Before Dark event. We will run the event all day both days rain or shine. Our vendors will have candy, swag, trinkets, coupons, and more that they will hand out for free! Trick or treating has never been better at the Boulder Ridge Wild Animal Park at 8313 Pratt Lake.
Haunted Village 10/16 - Ludington
Children of all ages will love to tour the Historic White Pine Village and fill their Halloween sack with goodies! Come dressed up in your favorite costume and enjoy a day of fun of trick-or-treating and exploring all of what the village has to offer, along with enjoying the decorations and spooky music while celebrating Halloween. The Historic White Pine Village is at 1687 S. Lakeshore Drive.

All Aboard for a Gourd! The Coopersville & Marne Railway presents its annual Pumpkin Train. Join the Famous Pumpkin, along with Stewy the Scarecrow and Lil’ Crow, as they entertain passengers of all ages during a leisurely 90-minute ride. They sing. They dance. They tell funny stories aboard our vintage train as it makes its way to Marne and back. Featuring century-old passenger cars and a 1950’s era locomotive the train follows a route dating to 1858. After the train’s return to Coopersville, each child aboard can visit our pumpkin patch where they can pick just the right pumpkin to take home. It all adds up to Halloween fun for the entire family! The Pumpkin Train is at Coopersville & Marne Railway at 306 Main Street.
