Foxtrot to Reopen in Gold Coast, Old Town, Wicker Park, and Fulton Market
City liquor license applications have revealed four Foxtrot locations that new ownership plans to reopen in Chicago. New ownership intends on reopening locations at 1722 W. Division Street in Wicker Park; 1562 N. Wells Street in Old Town; 23 W. Maple Street in Gold Coast, and 171 N. Green Street in Fulton Market. Ownership tells Eater they should have more information on when those stores will reopen later this week. Earlier this year, LaVitola said he planned to open around 15 stores, with the majority in Chicago and some in Austin, Texas.
Dr. Abiódún Gòkè-Pariolá Appointed President of North Central College
The Board of Trustees has unanimously appointed Dr. Abiódún “G-P” Gòkè-Pariolá as president of North Central College for a transitional period. Fifty years ago this week, on July 17, 1974, the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust opened the doors of Wright’s Home and Studio in Oak Park to the public for tours for the first time. In Saturday’s (7/20) Lansing Journal (Illinois), Paul Czapkowicz writes, “A picture-perfect Friday night drew an estimated crowd of 1,500 to the Fox Pointe concert venue to hear the Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra (NISO) perform for the fourth consecutive year in Lansing. People lined up to enter the venue over an hour before the show. The concert included selections ranging from patriotic offerings such as ‘America the Beautiful’ and the ‘Liberty Bell March’ to movie music from ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Lord of the Rings.’ The show contained a nod to the upcoming Summer Olympics with a performance of ‘Olympic Fanfare and Theme’ by composer John Williams. It even felt like Christmas in July for a while as the Symphony played a spirited rendition of ‘Sleigh Ride.’ Friday marked the start of NISO’s South Shore Summer Music Festival series that involves seven free outdoor performances. The remaining six shows will take place in Gary, Crown Point, Munster, Valparaiso, Hammond, and Griffith…. Kirk Muspratt, NISO’s music director/conductor for over 20 years, [called] the venue … ‘lovely. It’s intimate. The sound is great.’ ”
