The Farmers Union Ag Expo Center opened August 12, 2024, at the Brown County Fair. Inside this interactive space, the state’s largest agriculture organization connects South Dakotans who don’t live and work on farms and ranches to the individuals and animals that do. “Even though agriculture is our state’s number one industry, not many of the farm kids I grew up with became farmers. Bennett Wildfire holding within burned area
EDGEMONT, S.D. (KELO) — Fire crews were able to hold the fire within the burned area Friday night. As of Saturday morning, the fire remains at 330 acres in the Black Hills National Forest and is 10% contained, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture/Black Hills. There were 130 fire personnel from South Dakota, Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Colorado fighting the blaze. Other agencies and volunteer fire departments have been on-site to assist.

Sweet treats and soda now offered at Empire Place
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – There’s a new store in the Empire Place shopping plaza and it’s calling out to anyone with a sweet tooth. “Rocket Fizz is a soda pop and candy shop. There’s over 500 different flavors of soda pop and most of them are in the old fashioned glass bottles,” co-owner Vicki DeWitte said. “And then we just carry like all types of candy.”
