Heidelberg Mayor David Taylor II dies

JASPER COUNTY, Miss. ( WHLT ) – The mayor of the Town of Heidelberg has died.

“Our deepest condolences to the family and the City of Heidelberg on the passing of Mayor David Taylor II. Please keep them all in your prayers in the coming days,” said officials with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.

Taylor was sworn in as mayor in June 2021. He was a graduate of Heidelberg High School, Alcorn State University and William Carey University. He had degrees in Agricultural Economics (B.S.) and Math Education (M.Ed.).

Taylor was also a public educator for more than 14 years and coached basketball and volleyball,

He is survived by his wife and two children.
