The Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell in Hempstead has been ranked as one of the top medical schools in the country in the U.S. News & World Report 2024 rankings. The school was recognized for research and diversity.

This is the ninth consecutive year that the school was recognized for research and the fourth as one of the most diverse medical schools in the country.

The school is ranked in Tier 1, the ranking’s highest-performing, for research and is among 16 schools in the first tier. To evaluate schools in research, U.S. News considered several measures of academic quality, including research activity, student selectivity and achievements and faculty resources.

It was ranked No. 52 for diversity, based on its record of enrolling underrepresented minority students and the ratio of that enrollment to state or national numbers.

The Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University ranked in the second tier in research and fourth in primary care. The school ranked 75th in diversity and 162nd in most graduates practicing in primary care.
