Montgomery County Fair Events for Thursday
(Montgomery Co) The first show at the Montgomery County Fair this morning is the 4-H/FFA Meat & Dairy Goat Show at 8:00 a.m., followed by the 4-H/FFA Sheep Show. The 4-H/FFA Poultry Show is at 1:00 p.m. The 4-H/FFA Livestock Judging Contest begins at 5:00. There will be a Magic Show at the 4-H Exhibit Building at 5:00 p.m. Bingo from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. And, the final event for the day is the ATV Race at the Grandstand at 7:30 p.m.

Fox found in Lincoln tests positive for rabies
A fox that recently tested positive for rabies is the first case of its kind in Lincoln. Lincoln Animal Control announced Thursday that the fox came into contact with somebody’s dog and was injured. Animal control was called to pick up the fox, which was showing signs of illness.

Mismanagement Of OSHERS Revealed By State Audit
The Nebraska State Auditor is releasing a report on the Omaha School Employees Retirement System. According to the report, there was a one-point-one-billion-dollar shortfall in 2023 due to alleged mismanagement and miscalculations. The report also said the loss of key managers forced the retirement system to contract a temporary staffing agency. Auditors say 15-thousand retirees may have received less than what they're owed, while one retiree received a 53-thousand-dollar overpayment.
