HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Two men are charged with criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon after allegedly throwing lit fireworks at residential homes, vehicles and police officers.

According to a police affidavit, officers were in the 800 block of Mulberry Street investigating complaints of large fireworks being set off towards homes and vehicles.

Police say they spotted Keymontai Madison and Dajion Chew throwing two large mortar rounds towards officers and their patrol vehicle before fleeing.

Records say in the same attack, a vehicle on the street had been struck from the mortar round and damaged the rear view window.

Officers say they apprehended Madison and Chew quickly, and found a backpack with mortar rounds that matched the ones Chew had in his pocket.

Madison and Chew are charged with criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief. They are both currently being held at the Vanderburgh County Jail.
