HENDERSON, La. ( KLFY ) — Organizations gathered at Henry Guidry Memorial Park in Henderson to help Second Harvest food bank distribute 24 pallets of food and essentials to St. Martin Parish families who were impacted by the recent storms .

“We got a call out from (Henderson Police) Capt. Thibodeaux. He was like can we feed this call for help. Second harvest said of course we can,” said Second Harvest Impact Coordinator Lemel Jones.

Smile Community Action and Love Acadiana also showed up to help distribute to the many families who showed up.

Multiple families lined up for hours ready to get food after losing power, some with their homes destroyed, during the recent severe weather events.

“Just strategically over the past couple of weeks have put things in place for the community, again, not just for Henderson, but for St. Martin Parish as a whole,” said Thibodeaux.
