Henderson parents arrested on child abuse charges

Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – Henderson Police have arrested a couple and charged them with child abuse and neglect on their 11-year-old son.

On Tuesday, HPD responded to the 2000 block of Silverton Drive, near Wigwam and Pebble, in reference to assisting the Clark County School District Police Department with a truancy issue involving a student.

Officers arrived on scene to check the welfare of the student when it was discovered an 11-year-old was being contained within a large metal enclosure, with the residence described as having inhospitable living conditions.

Henderson Detectives identified the suspects as 46-year-old Misty Scanlan and 41-year-old Jeffery Scanlan.

Both were taken into custody and booked into the Henderson Detention Center each for 1 count Child Abuse/Neglect.

Child Protective Services responded to assist.
