HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The Hendersonville Police Department is investigating after the remains of a 17-year-old girl were found near State Route 386 Wednesday afternoon.

Police said a subcontract worker with the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) was picking up trash along the roadway on Wednesday, July 3 when they discovered the remains in a small wood line near State Route 386 (Vietnam Veterans Boulevard) by New Shackle Island Road.

On Friday, July 5, police identified the remains as those of 17-year-old Trinity Bostic, who was reported missing out of Macon County on Saturday, June 29.

The Macon County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release Friday night that they received the report that Bostic had run away on June 29. They added that they obtained her cell phone number and began to track her location, but that tracking led to areas outside Macon County.

The Macon County Sheriff’s Office stated that they notified Sumner County agencies about her location, but attempts to locate Bostic were unsuccessful. Bostic was entered into the National Crime Information Center as a missing person and a BOLO was sent to agencies across Middle Tennessee.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Trinity’s family and friends during this tragic time,” the release read.

Investigators suspect foul play in this case as the investigation continues, according to police.

Macon County Sheriff Joey Wilburn told News 2 that no information on a possible suspect(s) is available at this time. Wilburn also expressed his condolences to Trinity’s family.
