The human remains found in a wood line near Vietnam Veterans Boulevard earlier this week belong to a missing 17-year-old girl from Macon County, Hendersonville Police said Friday.

A death investigation is continuing as police try to figure out what happened to Trinity Bostic, who was reported missing on June 29, a news release said.

The Hendersonville Police Department said foul play is suspected in the case Friday, but authorities declined to release any further details, "in order to maintain the integrity of the investigation," a release noted.

A Tennessee Department of Transportation subcontract worker discovered Bostic's remains in a small wooded area near New Shackle Island Road while picking up trash Wednesday, according to an earlier press release issued by the Hendersonville Police Department.

Bostic's cause of death is still under investigation, pending an autopsy.

Anyone with information about Bostic or how she ended up in the wood line is asked to call the Hendersonville Police Department at 615-822-1111 or the Hendersonville Crime Stoppers at 615-594-4113.
