17-year-old arrested after trash collector finds remains of missing runaway teen in Tennessee

HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (TCN) -- A 17-year-old suspect is in custody after allegedly killing a runaway juvenile whose remains were found near a wooded area last week.

On the evening of June 29, the Macon County Sheriff's Office received a report that 17-year-old Trinity Bostic was missing. Investigators spoke with relatives and friends in the hope of finding her. Using Bostic’s cellphone number, deputies tracked her location in Sumner County and contacted local officials. Despite their attempts, authorities were unable to find Bostic.

Officials entered the missing juvenile into the National Crime Information Center and issued a Be on the Lookout (BOLO) alert.

According to Hendersonville Police, on July 3, a Tennessee Department of Transportation subcontract worker picking up trash found human remains in a small wood line on New Shackle Island Road. Investigators positively identified the victim as Bostic and suspected foul play was involved in her death.

On July 6, police announced the arrest of a 17-year-old male whose name has not been released. He was booked into the Sumner County Detention Center on a charge of first-degree murder.
