SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man who was released from prison earlier this year has landed himself back behind bars after he led deputies on a brief pursuit in Sumner County, officials said.

According to the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office, the incident took place just before 3 a.m. on Friday, July 12 after authorities attempted to perform a routine traffic stop on a vehicle on Highway 386 in Hendersonville.

However, instead of complying with the stop, deputies said the driver of the vehicle chose to evade and speed away.

A spike strip was quickly deployed, which disabled all four of the vehicle’s tires, officials said. The sheriff’s office then took the driver — identified as Zyshon Donnell of Nashville — into custody.

Deputies said Donnell faces several serious charges, including felony evading arrest; illegal possession of a handgun by a felon; and trafficking cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl.

His arrest reportedly comes just months after he was released from an eight-year prison sentence in February.
