James “Jim” Richards, age 89, of Madison passed away on July 11, 2024.

He was born on October 16, 1934 in Washington, Indiana to the late Rich and Louise Richards.

James settled in Nashville from Jackson, Tennessee around 1950. James was the proud owner of Richards Septic Tank Service and Richards Paving Service. He worked hard until he retired in 2018.

His hobby was midget car racing. He loved going to sprint car races, Nascar races, and his favorite, Indy car racing. He loved pretty much anything with an engine and had a lot of slick cars during his life.

He was the funniest man that could tell you a joke ten times and it would still be funny.

His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He loved his family and his God given talent was his ability to love unconditionally.

In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his siblings, Lelon Richards, Sammy Richards, Judy Smith, Mary (Pop) Tobitt, and Le Roy Richards.

James is survived by his daughters, Debbie Rader (Robert) and Marcie Dillard; his grandchildren, Bart Rader (Tara), Jamey Farrar (Tyler), Austin Dillard (Savannah); his great-grandchildren, Presley Rader, Brooklyn Rader, Jaleijza Rader, Lily Grace Farrar, and Everly James Farrar; and his siblings, Joanne Clinard (Jerry), Georgia Smith (Bob), Freida Manning (Johnny), and Ronnie Richards (Teresa).

Visitation for James will be held on Monday, July 15, 2024 from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon at Hendersonville Funeral Home (353 E. Main St., Hendersonville, Tennessee 37075). Funeral service will be held at the noon hour with burial to follow in Hendersonville Memory Gardens (353 E. Main St., Hendersonville, Tennessee 37075). https://www.hendersonvillefh.com

James will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

“We could not have asked for a better father. You will be missed but always in our hearts.” Love, Debbie and Marcie
