The Dorey Park Farmers Market will be open from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 17. Local farmers and artisans will be selling a variety of fresh produce, baked goods, honey, eggs and handcrafted items. Special events during the Aug. 17 market include a performance from magician and juggler Jonathan Austin at 10 a.m. and face painting and fairy hair by Creative Faces by Stephanie. The Richmond Water Lantern Festival will take place Saturday, Aug. 17 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Dorey Park, 2999 Darbytown Road in Varina. Participants will enjoy food trucks, music and other fun while decorating their own lantern to release as a group on the lake at sunset. Ticket price covers the cost of collecting and removing the lanterns from the water following the event as well as cleaning up any trash that may have been previously in or around the water. Tickets purchased through Aug. 16 are $28.33 per adult; youth ages 8-14 are $13.70 and children seven and below are free (doesn’t include a lantern kit). Tickets on the day of the event are $55.99.
